QBieb brings public libraries to life
Public libraries are becoming more and more important as a meeting place – and as the beating heart of the neighbourhood or district. In many cases, they are no longer stand-alone ‘book bunkers’. Rather, they form the nucleus of a local cultural centre together with, for example, a school, municipal information desk and/or performance venue. A place where people can share knowledge and exchange views.
This has led to an entirely new perspective on their layout. The emphasis is increasingly shifting from collection to connection. In partnership with Gulu Styling, Bieb Systemen has developed a modular and flexible interior design concept that puts users at ease and stimulates them to spend more time in the library. This concept is focused on experiential values, with ample room for theme-based presentations and events.
A QBieb library is a unique experience
Ambiance and experience are more important than ever when it comes to drawing people of all ages to the library. Parts of the collection that can be accessed directly by the public are shared via an attractive (often frontal), theme-based presentation. Of course, users can also browse through the entire collection in digital form, meaning that many titles no longer have to be physically located in the public areas.
This creates new room. Room that can be used for experiences. Visitors are invited to actually sit down and read in the library, and stay there for an extended period. “Welcome! Feel free to take a seat and enjoy a nice book.”
Flexible layout can be adapted for multi-purpose areas
Some library areas, particularly in smaller establishments, are used for a variety of purposes – either alternately or at the same time. This requires flexible furniture, which is why QBieb is based on a modular concept. The QBieb seating elements – either ‘plain’ or with integrated bookshelves in the backrests – wall cabinets and presentation tables can be arranged in all sorts of ways. They form individual building blocks that can constantly be re-combined into new interiors.
Campaigns and events are drawing more people
‘Nederland Leest’, the Book Week and Children’s Book Week, Thriller Month, public readings: people are encouraged by all sorts of events to pick up a book or pay a visit to the local library. With QBieb’s modular concept and sophisticated presentation tables, you can adapt your library’s mood and layout in no time. Meaning that each time your visitors step into the library, they are surprised by new and topical themes.
